Large Oval Basket with Repurposed Vintage Sterling Silver Anchor Pin

The large oval sized basket is the most practical of the three sizes I’m offering. It is just perfect for a cell phone, Tide pen, readers or sunnies, lippie, credit card, cash, eye drops, random makeup, those crazy 80s clip on earrings you knew were going to come off before the night was over, your keys and your contraband! they measure 7 1/2 inches across the top with the lid closed and the inside is 6 3/4 inches across. They are 8 1/2 inches tall, including the handle.

These reproduction Nantucket baskets were made by skilled artisans in Vietnam and China who possessed all the patience and painstaking skills of the old salts! They are the nicest reproductions I have ever seen and really almost indistinguishable from the pieces produced by artisans on Nantucket. They are made using the same materials and methods used by domestic basket weavers, including hardwoods like American ash, black walnut and Indonesian rattan cane. All the knobs and closures on the bags are made of hand carved bone, the decorations on top are hand made resin reproductions of original ivory carvings and scrimshaw pieces. Because these have been stored, carefully wrapped in acid free paper, in my attic for 16 years they have a beautiful aged honey color that lends them even more authenticity.
